Dating has taken a very big turn over the last few years by going more exclusively online. Because of this there are many people out there looking to navigate these unfamiliar scenes and need some tips for dating online.

Say exactly what you want is my best tip for you. If you want someone age 30-38, who works in health care then say it, or take the risk of getting a 22 year old in college. If you are looking for someone who will go on hikes with you then say it and don’t wait until you or the other person has a chance to form a bond.

Next on the list of tips for dating online is to keep your profile up to date. If you sign up for it and you’re living in New York but get a new job and move to South Carolina, then you want to change that so you can find people in South Carolina and not New York. Also if you graduate, change jobs, loose or get a new interest in something these are important things you will want to change so the person contacting you knows just who they are contacting.

I have a list of tips for dating that go over messaging and emailing and I want to go over the key points with you. First don’t write novels, keep the messages to around 3-4 lines and the emails no more then 4 paragraphs with each containing 4-5 sentences. Remember you want them to actually read it and if it is too long or detailed they may just delete it.

Next don’t get emotional in a message, some people may enjoy it but the majority of people on the dating sites don’t want to hear that you love them, or even that you hate this person or that person.

Keep the emails and messages upbeat, friendly and talk about interests you have and eventually common interests. Also when you write an email try to subtely include a few questions in it so that they will have a greater chance of responding.

The last tip I want to share is to be honest. Eventually you will meet this person and just think about how embarrassing it will be when you have to admit to them how you lied about things. Trust me, it is NEVER worth it.
